Frequently asked questions

users

What are the dates for the 2019 Campaign?
November 29, 30, December 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, 31.

What are your business hours?
Our phone lines are open from 9 pm until 2:30 am except for December 31 when we keep our lines opened until 3 am.
The designated driving service can be offered after these hours if we have your call before 2:30 or 3am respectively.

What is the area covered by your service?
We serve from Pointe-Verte to Allardville.

Is Operation Red Nose a taxi service?
No, it is a designated driver service that brings you to your destination in your own vehicle.

Does it cost anything?
The service is free of charge but we accept donations or tips.
One hundred percent of all the donations and tips received are transferred into a bursary fund for CCNB students at the Bathurst campus.

If I want the service, must I provide something?
You must provide proof of insurance and vehicle registration. Your vehicle must be safe for winter driving conditions, i.e. proper tires, motor vehicle inspection sticker, sufficient amount of fuel.

How many people can you drive to our destination?
Two volunteers will be in your vehicle at all times which means that we can accommodate as many customers as there are remaining available seatbelts in the vehicle.
For example: if your vehicle has 5 seat belts, we can accommodate 3 customers. If you are more than 3, our team will have to make more than one trip in order to bring everyone to their destination (vehicle owner must be in the vehicle at all times).

Is your service limited to bars and clubs patrons?
No. Operation Red Nose can drive you from anywhere as long as it is in our territory.

Can we make reservations?
No, it is not possible, for example to call at 9 pm for an 11 pm pick-up. This rule is in place simply because we can’t predict the availability of our road teams as every designated driving instance requires a different amount of time.

How long will I wait after placing a call with your service?
The average waiting time is difficult to predict as demand varies every night but our phone operators can give you an estimate when you place your call.
Operation Red Nose Chaleur usually has a short waiting time (15 minutes) earlier in the evening (between 9 and 11 pm), but later at night, with more calls coming in, you should expect a longer waiting time.

Can I call Operation Red Nose Chaleur even if I’m not inebriated?
You can call us if you are fatigued, inebriated or simply not comfortable driving in winter conditions, we will gladly drive you safely to your destination.
